To tell you the truth, I don't really like watches. Especially if you're going to pay that much for one. They're basically useless these days, since most people have cell phones. So it seems like the only real reason people wear them is to show off, or look important.
Does he like watches? Has he mentioned this brand to you? If not, you may want to reconsider what to get him. I won't make any suggestions, but if you just google "gift ideas", there are a ton of sites that offer creative gifts.

My best recommendation would be to a watch that has SAPPHIRE crystal and NOT mineral crystal. Less expensive watches generally have mineral crystal which scratches very easily. Sapphire crystal will not scratch unless it has a vicker similar to that of a diamond. Sapphire crystal cost more than mineral which is why you generally have to spend a little more to get it. But you will not be buying a new watch every year because of scratches either.

I am a watch collector, and I often carry no cell phone, anyhow. My cell phone does not keep time very well, so my watches are much more reliable. Today, I wear a 1953 LeCoultre "Futurematic" gold watch that is quite elegant, and I left my cell phone at home, since I need make no calls today. I cannot see how a cell phone could ever be a fashion accessory, and I can imagine how one would look if was as old as some of my watches, e.g. 1893, 1902, 1915, etc. Models. I think my 1953 LeCoultre watch is much more beautiful than any cell phone could ever be. It is much more convenient too. I just rotate my wrist to see the time with my watch, but with my cell phone, I must remove it from its holster and turn it on ... If I even have it with me. I only carry it when I need to make a call, but I wear a watch every day..

Do you feel that people still wear watches now that most people carry some type of cell phone with the time?

Share! Do you still wear a wear a watch, now that you have a cell phone, ipod, iphone, or other wireless device that shows the time? I noticed so many watches still advertised in magazines. My friend recently commented that he always hated watches, and, since he has a cell phone, he definitely has no reason to encumber his arms with useless paraphernalia. I then noticed that I, too, no longer wear, or even look at watches when I go to the store. My mother and father no longer wear watches either. My father's watch was a part of his body until the mid 90s. My sister never left the house without her practical calculator watch and, after high school, never without a pricey designer watch. Yet, now, everyone I know has freed their wrists. Have you witnessed this phenomenon, or do you still look at your wrist or just ask a pretty girl or handsome fellow for the time?

Is this how a normal "good dad" behaves or should I be a little annoyed at my husband?

My husband and I have 2 kids. The older is a 5 yr old girl who is biologically my step daughter. Her bio mom is cruel, though, so I am (for all intents and purposes) her "real" mom. We also have a daughter who is almost 2.

I LOVE spending time with my kids. I like to take them out or if we're tight on money for the month I get small crafts for us to do from the dollar store. We are working on painting a border around our dining nook using just cheap little paints from the dollar store (it's not designer, but it's fun and will make a sweet memory) we make friendship bracelets, we take a LOT of trips to the library and go home to read books and watch movies, we take walks to the BEST local ice cream shop. The 5 yr old likes to cook with me so we go to the grocery store together and she helps me pick out the BEST ingredients and then prepare our meal. At the moment I can't think of more, but I spend a lot of time doing fun things with my kids. Last night I picked my step daughter up from her bio mom after their visitation because my husband needed a nap. He'd been at work since 5:30am so I figured he needed it. I called him after I picked up my step daughter, though, and asked if he could be ready in a half hour or so (after napping for almost an hour) to go to the movies with us to see a kid movie my step daughter had wanted to see. He didn't want to go and phrased it as "You guys have a nice girls night" It wasn't like it was a girly movie! It was cute albeit a PG cartoon

I love my husband. He is a kind and very sweet man, but he can be SO dense. I say that he's a good father and it's true that he's certainly not a bad one. He never yells at or hurts the kids. They love him and snuggle with him while he's watching sports or whatever. Sometimes he'll go in the back yard and play ball with them. Frequently, though, he's not really involved in the activities we do. I ask him to be or I plead with him to at least feign interest, but he frequently says "Oh I'm too tired" or something like that. The thing is, we only work part time schedules. He gets plenty of sleep. He's only TWENTY for crying out loud. I'm also twenty and I KNOW I'm not old. I have plenty of energy for my kids. Why doesn't he? I know he loves them, but it seems like he doesn't really put a lot of invested interest in them. I should be thankful that he's at least a very decent man, but I want my little girls to grow up with a strong dad in their lives. My mom cut my dad out of the picture when I was young and I never really got to know him until I was 16. My step daughter's mom did her best to cut her dad out of the picture, but we've fought tooth and nail for full custody. I want my kids to have good self esteem and have a positive male role model to base their future boyfriends on. Do you think it's ok to settle for "good enough" or should we have another talk about my desire that he take more proactive interest in our kids? I feel like I shouldn't have to ASK him to be interested in our kids.....
La Vie Boheme: Well yeah I don't either, but you know what? He should have thought about that before he had two kids. It doesn't matter to me that he's 20. He wanted his kids. He wanted to be married. He got his kids. I married him. Now he needs to step up and take responsibility for his kids. It's not like he doesn't support us, but I think we all know that financial support is less "valuable" than really being there for your family.

WristWatchDesigns.com Answers:

My husband told me a couple of years ago that he doesn't enjoy time with his kids unless it's something that entertains him. He has planned for me to do things with his kids more than once so he can park his @ss in front of the computer. When they come to visit, it's hard for him to tear himself away from his video games, etc. To be with them. Some people are just selfish, and it seems that more men are than women. The older girl needs way more of her dad than she's getting. Her mom already rejected her. If she doesn't get the attentions she needs she'll be 13 and seeking it from boys. Just like my poor step-daughters will be doing. You are right, and you should keep trying to get through to him. Would he read parenting books if you got them? I don't know if there are DVD's on the topic, but I'd keep trying. You're a great mom!

HELP!!! Advice needed..... using my sister's account?

I just started dating a Macedonian girl. She is the same age as me 32. She is pretty. However, she is very bossy and always wants her own way. She is very materialistic. She buys Gucci and Armani clothes but gives me the cheapest presents, like a 20 dollar watch. She says she comes from a poor family in ex-Yugoslavia and material things mean a lot to her now. When she first met me she asked which area I lived in, what car I drove and what I did for a living. I live in a good area and have a professional job at Reuters. She has no education and works as a receptionist. She is not ambitious but expects to earn a lot of money for doing nothing. I have to pay for everything all the time. She told me that she likes me because I am "generous".

HELP!!! Advice needed ... using my sister's account?

She doesn't seem like too solid of a person... I mean, why would you date someone you already are having trouble tolerating?
Get a girl that really treats you right, not one that just walks all over everyone. Your generosity should be more appreciated.
She wants too much and doesn't give enough back. How long do you really want to deal with that?
Find someone you can stand for the rest of your life.

Chicago Bulls making moves to land LeBron?

As of today the Bulls have traded (G) Hinrich and the 17th Pick to the Washington DC Wizards to clear their proverbial wallets!

This move obviously is comfortable to both clubs, namely that the Wiz get a solid veteran to pair with Kentucky rookie/#1 pick John Wall.

• This move now makes Chicago competitive with NYC Knicks who prior to the draft had the most space ($34,147,478) to sign two high-powered contracts.

• Now BOTH Chicago and NYC can sign two big contracts.

• Prior to the trade, Chicago was ranking 5th in the fat-wallets category, able to bankroll $20,509,84 to free agents/salaries. POST TRADE, da Bulls cleared up room, thereby making their bankroll approximately $30 million.

Anyone think LeBron, Bosh, and Wade end up together in Chicago?

ESPN radio and Yahoo Sports have continually discussed how these three guys have had meetings in an effort to team up! Interesting indeed!

Sources: ESPN radio, Yahoo Sports, and 'Slam' magazine, Aug. 2010 issue, page 52 for financial stats.

WristWatchDesigns.com Answers:

I'll be honest, I don't see any way that Bosh, Wade and Lebron all wind up in the same place. I think it would actually be a bad thing to have all three guys, who all command the ball in the place.

But I could actually see Chris Bosh and Lebron James both going to Chicago. The Bulls can afford to pay both maximum contracts. Plus when you think about this; Lebron wants to go to a team where he has a legit second star to pair with, and Chris Bosh is waiting specifically to see what Lebron does. So if this happens it jolts Chicago immediately into one of the top teams, if not THE top team in the EAST.

“To be nobody but yourself- in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else- means to fight the hardest battle any human being can fight, and never stop fighting.” -e.e. cummings

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms was a bill of rights that forms the first part of the Constitution of Canada. It became official with Queen Elizabeth the Second’s signing on April 17, 1982, and was created to allow people to be individuals, and to let us be free to make our own choices. Although the Charter is still in place, people have their rights violated by their peers every second of every day.

Individualism is a very tough thing to come by, with all the ‘fads’ of today, and with such high standard images being burned into the scalps of every teenage girl that reads fashion magazines. No matter where you turn to, the media shapes your opinions to what ‘perfection’ should be like. “Size matters”, “Wear skirts and low tops”, “Only designer clothes are pretty”; Girls are constantly bombarded with these messages. Not even the men are safe, with commercials and advertisements telling them to dress in suits, keep cleanly shaven, and some advertisements even hint that if your bodies aren’t bulging with muscles, you don’t fit in with societies ‘image’.

What happened to freedom of expression? What happened to freedom of thought? Nowadays if you even speak differently then today’s standards, you are slaughtered with cruel words, pushed around, and in some harsher cases you could even end up dead. Suicide is a becoming a big problem, and when someone is constantly being picked on be their peers, it can create a message in their head that being individual is wrong. Unlike what people think, the problem isn’t just limited to high school. From elementary school until the day you die, if you want to be yourself it comes with a high price.

I can certainly support this with my own experiences. Ever since I was a child, I knew I was different. I always was daydreaming, living in my own little Wonderland, and not quite caring about what other kids thought of me. As soon as I could buy clothes for myself, I dressed the opposite of any kids in my class. I didn’t believe that there was such thing as ‘genders’, I was bisexual, and even before I came out of the closet everyone seemed to know. The other children were afraid of me. They repulsed me and I had few friends, and by the time I was in junior high, I had literally no friends at all. I only had me, myself, and I, and this cruel reality caused me to go home crying every single evening.

In high school, their forms of bullying changed. Ignoring me wasn’t as fun as watching my face go red with anger and anguish when they called me ‘emo’ and told me to slit my wrists. I’ve even had people tell me I should ‘do everyone a favour and slit my throat instead’. It was terrifying; I expected that any time now, someone would do that for me. Even today I hear people talking behind my back, and as I walk down the hallway, people give me looks of disgust and disrespect. Ignorance is a frightening thing.

Did all our rights and freedoms go out the window? There is no one safe from having their rights being violated, even if they may lie and act like everything is alright. Not dressing and acting the way you want to lying to yourself, and to me, it’s a crime. It’s a crime because if everyone was individual, no one would be singled out anymore. No one would have to harbour the pain and humiliation of being bullied. No one would go home to stain their pillows with tears. No one would need to fight, and no one would have to fight.

So we, the individuals, continue our fight for peace and freedom. We will continue to hold the Torch of Expression, and we will all stand high. We fight for all of you, and we will continue our fight, even long after we’re gone.

I always was daydreaming, living in my own little wonderland, and not quite caring about what other kids thought of me. This cruel reality caused me to go home crying every single evening. My agony almost pushed me over the edge, as I stared at a cold slab of wall, thinking about how tasteful a nice stain of red would look covering it.

In high school, their forms of bullying changed. Ignoring me wasn't as fun as watching my face go red with anger and anguish when they called me 'emo' and told me to slit my wrists. I've even had people tell me I should 'do everyone a favour and slit my throat instead'. It was terrifying; I expected that at any moment, someone might do that for me. Even today I hear people talking behind my back, and as I walk down the hallway, people give me looks of disgust and disrespect. Ignorance is a frightening thing.
People's ignorance is what creates things that allow for people to group us off. Of course it's much more difficult is it to be individual when we have imaginary 'cliques' that apparently everyone belongs to. These stereotypes are what are used to help bullies single people out. Let's face it: almost everyone is guilty to comparing perfect strangers to these outrageous stereotypes. You see a man wearing dark make-up and all black clothes, so you think he must be a Satan worshipping goth freak. Then a girl walks by wearing a low-cut, pink shirt and a short skirt, so you figure she must be a slutty, gossiping prep girl. Gangster, weeaboo, freaks, nerds... the possibilities for grouping people together seems to be endless. People who stereotype others need to realize this little fact: we are not emo, hicks, loners, or whatever other label you'd like to stick onto us. We are only people, just like you.
Thankfully, I go to a small school where the individuals slightly outnumber the ignorant. It is terrible though, to see that this problem is starting to appear in younger and younger age groups. The poisoning of stereotyping and subliminal messaging in the media is appearing in younger grades, and I think it's just wrong. Suicide that may have been caused by harassment from peers is starting to appear more often in younger age groups. Young adults and teenagers are the second most popular age group to die from suicide, and most of those were caused by depression. Imagine how many of those cases of depression were caused by harassment by their peers.
Did all our rights and freedoms go out the window? There is no one safe from having their rights being violated, even if they may lie and act like everything is alright. Not dressing and acting the way you want to is lying to yourself, and to me, that is a crime. It's a crime because if everyone was individual, no one would be singled out anymore. No one would have to harbour the pain and humiliation of being bullied. No one would go home to stain their pillows with tears. No one would need to fight, and no one would have to fight.
So we, the individuals, continue our fight for peace and freedom. We will continue to carry the torch of expression, and we will all stand high. We fight for all of you, and we will continue our fight, because even if being individual is the hardest battle of any human on the planet, we plan to fight it forever, even after we are gone.

Overall, I think you have done a fine job, even though you are probably fighting a losing, perhaps even debilitating, battle.

I've put some recommendad changes in brackets. I hope you can work them out. If not, you may email me for clarification via my profile. Good luck.

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms was a bill of rights that formed the first part of the Constitution of Canada. It became official with Queen Elizabeth the Second's signature on April 17, 1982, and was created to allow people to be individuals, and to let us be free to make our own choices. Although the Charter is still in place, people have had their rights violated by their peers every second of every day.

Individualism (I think "individuality" would be correct: "individualism" relates more to political than to personal/social freedom) is a very tough thing to come by, with all the 'fads' of today, and with such high standard images being burned into the scalps (minds? Scalps are merely coverings of skin for our heads) of every teenage girl that ("who" for people, "that" for animals and inanimate objects) reads fashion magazines. No matter where you turn, the media shapes your opinions to (of) what 'perfection' should be like ("like" is redundant). "Size matters", "Wear skirts and low tops", "Only designer clothes are pretty". (Would an exclamation mark after each of the preceding statements be better?) Girls are constantly bombarded with these messages. Even the ("the" is redundant.) men are not safe, with commercials and advertisements telling them to dress in suits, keep cleanly ("clean" - an adverb [cleanly] qualifies an action, not its result.) shaven, and some advertisements even hint(ing) that if your (their) bodies aren't bulging with muscles, you (they) don't fit in with ("in with" is redundant)society's 'image'.

What happened to freedom of expression? What happened to freedom of thought? Nowadays if you even speak differently then (to?) social standards, you are slaughtered with cruel words, pushed around, and in some harsher cases you could even end up dead. Suicide is an increasing problem, and when someone is constantly being picked on by their peers, it can create (they can receive?) a message in their head that being individual is wrong. Contrary to what people think, the problem isn't limited to high school. From elementary school until the day you die, if you want to be yourself, it will come with a high price. Almost no one will stop try(ing) to turn you into a clone of society.

I can certainly support this with my own experiences. Ever since I was a child, I knew I was different. I always was daydreaming, living in my own little wonderland, and not quite caring about what other kids thought of me. As soon as I could buy clothes for myself, I dressed the opposite of (to) any kids in my class. I didn't believe that there was (were) such thing(s) as 'genders',(:) I was bisexual, and even before I came out of the closet everyone seemed to know. The other children were afraid of me. They were repulsed by me and I had few friends. By the time I was in junior high, I had literally no friends at all. I only had me, myself, and I. This cruel reality caused me to go home crying every single evening. My agony almost pushed me over the edge, as I stared at a cold slab of wall, thinking about how tasteful a nice stain of red would look covering it.

In high school, their (the?) forms of bullying changed. Ignoring me wasn't as (much) fun as (was) watching my face go red with anger and anguish when they called me 'emo' and told me to slit my wrists. I've even had people tell me I should 'do everyone a favour and slit my throat instead' You should use "...", not '...'. It was terrifying; I expected that at any moment, someone might do that for me. Even today I hear people talking behind my back, and as I walk down the hallway, people give me looks of disgust and disrespect. Ignorance is a frightening thing.

People's ignorance is what creates things (cliches) that allow for (for is redundant) people to group us off. Of course it's much more difficult is it ("is it" is out of place here) to be individual when we have imaginary 'cliques' that apparently (")everyone(") belongs to. These stereotypes are what (are used by bullies to single people out.)are used to help bullies single people out. Let's face it: almost everyone is guilty to (of) comparing perfect strangers to these outrageous stereotypes. You see a man wearing dark make-up and all black clothes, so you think he must be a Satan worshipping goth freak. Then a girl walks by wearing a low-cut, (lose the comma) pink shirt and a short skirt, so you figure she must be a slutty, gossiping prep girl. Gangster, weeaboo, freaks, nerds... The possibilities for grouping people together seems (seem) to be endless.

The poisoning (poison) of stereotyping and subliminal messaging in the media is appearing in younger grades, and I think it's just wrong. Suicide(s) that may (might) have been caused by harassment from peers is starting to appear (occur) more often in younger age groups. Young adults and teenagers (account for the second highest rate of suicide in our society, and most of these tragedies were precipitated by depression.) are the second most popular age group to die from suicide, and most of those were caused by depression. Imagine how many of those cases of depression were caused by harassment by their peers.

Did (Have) all our rights and freedoms go (gone) out the window? There is no one (No one is safe from having their rights violated, although they tend to compensate by lying, and acting as if everything is alright.) safe from having their rights being violated, even if they may lie and act like everything is alright. Not dressing and acting the way you want to (to is redundant) is lying to yourself,(;) and to me, that is a crime. It's a crime because if everyone was (an) individual, no one would be singled out anymore. No one would have to harbour the pain and humiliation of being bullied. No one would go home to stain their pillows with tears. No one would need to fight, and no one would have to fight.

So we, the individuals, continue our fight for peace and freedom. We will continue to carry the torch of expression, and we will all stand high (tall). We fight for all of you, and we will continue our fight, because even if being individual is the hardest battle (any human might face, we plan...) of any human on the planet, we plan to fight it forever, even after we are gone. (How will you continue the fight when you are dead?)

The quote was confusing? That's weird... I understood it right away.
And don't blame me, blame e.e. cummings lol

Your Answer:
you should really state your age so i know how to judge your piece, and the criteria guidelines like how long it's meant to be, to me it seems too short.
Firstly i feel sorry that you had a confusing quote to answer to.
'suicide is becoming a big problem' it's better if you use different language eg. 'suicide is becoming an increasing problem' etc. It just makes it sound a little more sophisticated.

You could also talk about stereotyping, you have already but put the word 'stereotype' into the essay. Also throughout the essay keep rewording the quote so the reader doesnt lose track of what the whole question was, i got the clear message of individualism which was expressed well, i'm guessing it was a personal response because you added your experiences to support your essay this is good as it adds proof and meaning to your work.
Good Work! It only needs a few adjustments here and there and if you add to it a little more it's basically a perfect piece.
I hope this helped, to be completely honest that quote was damn confusing lol, especially for 2:30am in morning!

I lived in Moscow during the latter stages of communism and a couple of years after. There was nothing in the shops. We were lucky because we had access to a 6 monthly shopping delivery from Helsinki, and later in the tour, a Stockmann's store opened up. This was purely for the westerners who had credit cards. That was the ONLY method of payment and essentially banned any Russians from the store because credit cards were pretty much impossible to get for your average Russian.

The only problem with the store was getting out of it with your trolley load of western food. Right outside the door you were mobbed by begging children who were 'owned' by a tout. He'd take whatever the children 'earned' and give them a rouble or two for their wages, or feed them (whichever was cheaper).

How did I deal with this? The same as I did when the officials in Bucharest rounded up 1,000 of the street children. 3 of these came from the junction near our street. There were a group of them who lived in the sewers and came out to clean you windshield (the bigger boys), side mirrors (If you still had them! The younger kiddies did those) and there was a little lad who looked about 4 years old which means he must've been about 14! Who always cleaned my headlamps. I used to keep a load of packets of polo mints in the car. I never gave them money because it was always taken off them, sweets they'd share between them. So I gave them polo mints.

3 of these children vanished in the night and were never seen again. They never did anyone any harm, they were just bad for tourism.

What did I do to live amongst such hardship? I hardened my heart. It doesn't stop you feeling, but it allows you to go on living a somewhat normal life.

I learned an important lesson living in Eastern Europe around those times. You can help individuals and put a smile on a few faces, but you'll never heal the world.
