- Is it a Bad Idea To get a Wrist Tattoo?
What I want to get is a small Libra sign on the undersided of my left wrist and the other wrist I want the characters for the my chinese zodiac sign the rabbit. For future employment, my watch could cover one up and if it was unacceptabe couldn't I just put a little makeup to cover it if it become a prob at work. I'm been thinking about getting for a whiel now about 5 months. Any idea how much it would cost?

A Not a bad idea, just a rather painful spot for a tattoo, friend. The bones underlying the skin are very close to the surface, which means so are the nerves between the surface and the bone. You will most definitely feel it when they perform the work. As for cost, many shops now have what could be called a bench charge......a minimum charge to cover the cost of the "setup" (needle, carriage, so on), and that ranges from $25 to $40, depending on the shop. If you are going to do this, I would definitely suggest getting both done at one time, to save on an additional charge of that nature. The actual cost of the tattoo would probably run you about $20 to $35, again, depending on the shop.

- zenith defy extreme won't wind?
Hi I've just bought a Zenith Defy Xtreme Open, el Primero. It winds fine when manually wound, but does not seem to charge when worn on a wrist, and loses charge when put on a watch winder. It is supposed to be automatic, but only charges when wound with the crown. Why is that? If it's possible, how can I get the watch winder to charge the watch? All answers appreciated Thanks!

- Should Watches without In-House Movements be Respected?
I'm new to the horology scene - an amateur at best. What initially sparked my interest was a video of a Rolex technician placing the oscillator in a new watch: it was magnificent. It gave me a true appreciation for all of the painstaking details that go into crafting a fine watch. Over the last few months, I've learned an incredible amount about the pedigree of top-notch manufacturers, and the craftsmanship and technology behind their work. I have a great deal of respect for the dominant watchmaking companies for all they've contributed over the years: Patek, Lange, JLC, Piguet, Rolex, and Zenith, to name a few of my favorites. But I've reached a dilemma... Should watches without in-house movements have any amount of respect amongst top manufactures? Popular manufactures like Omega (after being absorbed into Swatch), IWC, and Breitling are names that often come up when great watches are being discussed, but they all use 3rd party movements in at least some capacity. Even if they're modified before installation, they're still 3rd party movements. To me, there's no difference between an Omega and a hypothetical watch that Lindsay Lohan could put her name on by purchasing a box of ETA movements and paying a lacky to design a fashionable case to house them in. I don't think I'd ever be able to strap an Omega on my wrist without cringing the same way I would with a fake $20 Rolex. After all, the essence of a watch, in my opinion, is its movement. If a manufacturer just slaps a 3rd party movement into a designer case, how can they even be considered a watchmaking company? What's the point? Is my rational justified, or am I missing a bigger picture?

- Found an old wrist watch, how do I know its true value? I am skeptical of Antique Pawnshops.?
Hi all, I was moving old Furniture at work and bringing in the new. These include office desks, filing cabinets etc. I found this very old wristwatch in one of the drawers its an Automatic watch, with leather straps and in fairly good condition. Its a Wittnauer Brand it looks like its a Model from possibly the early sixties. How do I get its true value appraised? I am a bit skeptical with Pawn Shops or Antique stores that dispalys a sign that we buy this and that. For fear of being "low-balled" plus I am not familiar with antiques. Is there a website to search and figure out a ball park value? Sorry if I had to post that topic here, I dont know where esle to go.

A A book or website will not give you an accurate value because they cannot gauge the condition of your piece. Look up local auction houses in your area. They usually offer professional appraisals. Additionally, you could try contacting your property insurance agent to ask if they have any antiques appraisers they recommend. It’s not uncommon for someone to get an appraisal on an antique for insurance purposes.

I've been in a real need of a good quality watch for quite some time now. Even in the office, i go with bare hands with a nice watch absent from my wrist. But i make sure that my long french manicured nails catch people's attention.. haha. Coming back... i really need some advice on buying a nice modern and bold watch giving out a statement. But i am confused... i went to a watch showroom but couldnt make up my mind and came out without buying anything. Should i go for a bracelet watch or a bold ,oversized dial black leather strap watch ? Dont really know what's in fashion these days but have been noticing girls and women wearing those big dial watches almost looking like mens watches.Though looked even nice on them.... I used to wear a golden bracelet watch long time ago, but once it got damaged , i didnt get time to repair it or even buy a new one. I want a timepiece that could be worn in the office giving a powerful impression and also casually at home or going out with my bf or friends. Dont want something that is too catchy and fake. I even dont like watches that are too girly though i havnt tried wearing mens watches, although my lot of friends wear them.Since most of the men's watches come with black leather strap so it is one of the options to go for. I have an average wrist and my hands are also pretty average, a little bit on the bigger side i would say. So i did some research on some popular shopping websites and came out with these timepieces as my favorites. So i would like you women out there to have a look at them and help me select the best of this lot. Also you cn mention the reason of choosing a particular one.
